Moclín, a historic hillside village in southern Spain, around a short drive from Granada, is the stimulating location for this creative getaway. Painters of all abilities – even novices – will discover how to plan and create abstract artworks. Some time will be spent outdoors, working on tutorials out in nature. These sketches and paintings will then be expanded upon in the studio, with guests completing a number of abstract landscapes in acrylics to be shown in the village. Participants has sole use of the venue, which is built around an open courtyard and has a sun terrace with views over the hills. The price includes five days of painting tuition; all meals; and an trip to the nearby fortress and other points of interest.

This Mediterranean foodie getaway, set on a riverside villa in the central Algarve, is draws inspiration from the plant-based cuisine of renowned chefs. Attendees will master the art of meze spreads, attend a falafel-making workshop, perfect mid-morning meals such as shakshuka, and make substantial main courses including spicy mushroom ragu and moussaka. The schedule includes trips to the local market and a local vineyard to taste Portuguese wines, plus free time for strolls by the Funcho River, to relax on the terrace or take a dip in the infinity pool. This energetic camp is an uplifting, inclusive weekend dance intensive for adults in High Wycombe. The daily schedule throughout the camp is a party-style group warmup, then several hour-and-a-half workshops teaching various urban dance forms, then an 60-minute freestyle session to show off new moves. Participants are split into groups according to skill level, so it is perfect for those who are brand new to popping and locking, all the way to experienced performers or instructors. This event does not provide lodging but there are several places to stay nearby, and it is 23-35 minutes by train into central London.

This coastal town is the excellent setting for a sea shanty weekend. Guests will be taught traditional shanties from a experienced musician, and try their hand at composing original ones. There will be voice exercises, breath control techniques, stagecraft advice and a closing performance. The holiday is based at a rural hotel with views of the bay. All meals are provided, such as a traditional tea on arrival, breakfast options, packed lunches and three-course dinners. Traditional rum, unfortunately, is not included. Author and lecturer Greg Mosse conducts the daily workshops on this authors' getaway. He explores topics including story structure, character development, locations and tension, to sending manuscripts to agents. A co-host, the well-known writer Kate Mosse, will participate in special sessions at the start and finish of the week. The holiday is held at a traditional complex in Vamos at the foot of the White mountains – ten one- and two-bedroom cottages are set around a central garden with a pool (non-writing partners are encouraged to come along). On the last night, budding authors celebrate with a musical performance in the garden and a farewell dinner.

The Centre for Alternative Technology near Machynlleth runs a host of programs on eco-living: from wildlife gardening to upcycling. This weekend course will help participants get to grips with the basics of apiary management, explore the biology of honeybees and learn about their environmental benefits. It is designed to produce “bee-friendly beekeepers”. The weekend is also a chance to de-stress in the centre's carefully maintained woodlands, which are habitat for wildlife, otters, dormice, lesser horseshoe bats and uncommon bird species. These new weekend sailing courses are spent on dinghies and Dufours on the Blackwater estuary. They are aimed at adult beginners starting out or those with some knowledge who want a skills update. Sailors can improve their steering, strengthen their seamanship and work towards the Royal Yachting Association’s certification levels in a supportive atmosphere. There are non-residential and residential options, with accommodation in basic shared rooms in the waterside sailing school. The non-residential package includes lunches, while the overnight option covers two nights’ accommodation and full board, from full English breakfasts to evening barbecues.
