The NFL franchise released a comment Wednesday night stating they are aware of claims of abuse circulated in social media posts by a ex-partner of player the athlete and were in contact with the league office.
The team omitted the name of Rice by name in their statement and noted they would have “no further comment at this time”.

The woman, who likewise did not name the athlete by name, shared a set of images on social media that seemed to depict indicators of bodily harm. She did say the person involved was the parent of her kids, and reports indicate she has kids with Rice, whom the Chiefs selected in the 2023 draft.
No official complaints were on file in Overland Park, Kansas where the alleged abuse is said to have occurred.
Rice missed the first six games of this season due to an NFL suspension for his involvement in instigating a crash on a Texas roadway that resulted in several individuals injured. He was given 30 days in jail and probationary supervision after entering a guilty plea to serious offenses.
On the field, he concluded the season with 53 receptions for 571 receiving yards and five touchdowns as the Chiefs went with a losing record and failed to qualify for the postseason for the first time in a decade.
