Reigning Sabalenka Wins Back-to-Back WTA Player of the Year Accolades.

World number one Aryna Sabalenka has been voted the Women's Tennis Association top performer of the year for a second consecutive season.

The 27-year-old secured four titles – the most on tour – including retaining the US Open this past September against Amanda Anisimova to claim her fourth career Grand Slam singles triumph.

A Year of High Performance

Over the course of the tour, Sabalenka competed in a tour-best nine championship matches, with defeats coming against Madison Keys in the Australian Open final at the start of the year and Coco Gauff in June's French Open final.

The star player also claimed victory at the Brisbane International early in the season, the Miami Open in March, and the Madrid Open as the clay season progressed. She remained the entire year as the top-ranked player, concluding 2025 on top of the rankings for a second straight year.

In July, she achieved the status of being the first player to top 12,000 WTA ranking points since Serena Williams in 2015.

Record-Breaking Statistics

Sabalenka concluded the season with a 63-12 win-loss record, and picked up a record £11m in prize money.

She earned nearly 80% of the votes submitted by international tennis media.

Later this month, she is poised to compete against 2022 Wimbledon finalist Nick Kyrgios in a Battle of the Sexes-style exhibition match with the aim of "raise women's tennis to a greater prominence".

Additional WTA Award Honorees

• Comeback Player of the Year: Switzerland's Belinda Bencic, twenty-eight, received the award after taking extended hiatus after the birth of her first child and making her comeback to the sport earlier this season.
• Rookie of the Year: Canadian 19-year-old Victoria Mboko picked up the award after beginning the season ranked beyond the world's top 300 and rising to the eighteenth spot.
• Partnership of the Year: Katerina Siniakova and Taylor Townsend were voted after securing their second Grand Slam title together.
• Biggest Leap of the Year: Amanda Anisimova was named after reaching five championship matches.

Last week, Carlos Alcaraz won three honours in the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) Awards, which included the year-end number one award, while Jannik Sinner was voted fans' favourite for a third consecutive time.
