Rob Edwards along with O'Neil represent the initial candidates in the frame to replace Vitor Pereira as head coach of Wolverhampton Wanderers.
The previous coach was sacked on Sunday following the squad's ten-game without a victory beginning to the top-flight campaign.
And Edwards and O'Neil - each of whom have previous links to the team - are part of the options to be considered by the Wolves leadership.
