The Actress Expresses Speaking About Donald Trump Would ‘Intensify Divisions’ Dividing the Nation Apart

The star has revealed that she believes it's no longer suitable to speak out regarding the Trump presidency, concerned it could intensify polarizing arguments and further divisions throughout the United States.

‘I’m Unsure If It’s Wise’, Says Jennifer Lawrence

In a recent interview, she commented, “When Trump was first in office, I believed I was running around like a chicken with my head cut off. But it’s become clear, over multiple voting cycles, Hollywood stars have no real impact at all on electoral choices.”

The actor went on, “What’s the point? I’m just sharing my opinion on a matter that’s going to add fuel to a fire that’s ripping the country apart.”

Changing Allegiances

The actress has admitted freely about voting for both Republican and Democratic presidential nominees in past elections. Raised by a right-leaning family in Kentucky, she voted for John McCain in 2008 before joining the Democratic party and revealing she understood during Obama’s administration that backing conservatives was voting against her personal freedoms as a female citizen.

Earlier Remarks

Several years ago, she stated that a Trump victory would be “a disaster” and publicly supported the Democratic candidate in the 2020 presidential race. In the latest campaign, she lent her support to Vice President Harris, “because I think she’s an excellent choice and I am confident that she will take all necessary steps to defend abortion access.”

Hollywood’s Stance

Lawrence was supported by numerous celebrities in her rejection of the former president as a presidential contender, but the minimal impact stars have over the voting intentions was underscored by Trump’s victory.

“Another four years appears changed,” noted the actress regarding Trump’s presidency. “As he stated his intentions. We knew what he did for the previous administration. He was very clear. And voters made that decision.”

Current Projects

Lawrence is currently promoting her new film, the filmmaker’s movie in which she plays a young mom who struggles with her psychological well-being in the countryside. During a media event for the project in the film festival, Lawrence addressed the situation in the Middle East: “I’m terrified. It’s mortifying. What’s occurring is no less than a atrocity and it’s terrible.”

Additional Thoughts

The actress elaborated by expressing that she was disheartened by “the hostility in the conversations of U.S. political debates right now and how that is going to be normalised to the children today. It’s going to be typical to them that politicians lie.”

Lawrence sought to redirect frustration about the situation to decision-makers rather than entertainers. “Keep attention on those accountable,” she remarked, in what many took to be a nod to the recent commitment endorsed by more than 4,000 entertainment industry figures to avoid certain cultural organizations.

Relatable Experiences

The actor, who won an Oscar aged 22 for her part in the acclaimed film, is attracting awards attention for her portrayal in the new film. Even though the director has denied the narrative being seen as one of postpartum depression and mental illness, Lawrence said that she identified with aspects of her character’s journey after the birth of her youngest child, soon after filming concluded.

“It was fear for my son,” she said, “imagining every negative outcome, and then questioning everything that I was trying. I was seeing a therapist, but I began using a drug called that medicine and I continued it for a short period and it was effective.”

Professional Experiences

Jennifer Lawrence also mentioned regarding the freeing requirement of completing nude scenes in the project while she was some months pregnant and unable to exercise.

“It’s refreshing,” she said, about having to cast off vanity. “Truly, I do have moments where I’m like, What separates me between myself and a sex worker? But it doesn’t trouble me deeply.”
